Prof. Dr. Adriana Blagoeva

 

Prof. Dr. Adriana Blagoeva was born in Sofia. She graduated with a degree in Choral conducting from the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov " in Sofia with prof. Anna Belcheva. Prof. Dr. Adriana Blagoeva has worked with children's, women's and mixed choirs. Since 1988 she has been a choirmaster and since 1989 conductor of the Sofia Boys` Choir. Under her leadership the ensemble expands its repertoire, evolves very active concert and recording work in the country and abroad - Greece, Russia, Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Belgium, Turkey and Japan.

 

Prof. Blagoeva has been awarded the Special Prize for Conductors from the First International Choir Competition in Bolzano, Italy in 2000.

 

Under her leadership the Sofia Boys` Choir Boys has won one Grand Prix, five First and five Second Prizes from seven international choral competitions, as well as numerous national awards, including "Silver Lyre" (1998), "Golden Lyre" (2008) and "Crystal Lyre "(2009 and 2012) of the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers; "Musician of the Year" (2002) in the musical ranking of the Bulgarian National Radio; the "Golden Quill" award (1998, 2013) for its contribution to Bulgarian culture; Honorable Plaques and certificates of Ministry of Culture, Sofia Capital Municipality, the Bulgarian Choral Union, the Union of the Bulgarian Composers, the Union of Community Centres and many others.

 

Adriana Blagoeva is a professor of Choral conducting, Ph.D. in Musicology and Musical Art and Dean of Theory, Composition and Conducting Department at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”. Her scientific and pedagogical activity also includes the writing of several articles and participation in theoretical conferences on problems of the choral singing and musical education, leading of open rehearsals and master classes both in Bulgaria and in several other countries, including Japan and Mexico.
