Prof. Dr. Kostadin Buradzhiev

 

Prof. Dr. Kostadin Buradzhiev was born in 1958 in Plovdiv. Long-standing conductor and Principal artistic director of the State Ensemble "Dobrudzha" - Dobrich, having more than 1000 concerts in Bulgaria and many countries in the world, including Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Russia, China, Thailand, Laos and many others. With Ensemble "Dobrudzha" he has released four full-length LPs, six CDs, which included his own compositions and arrangements. For his creative work Prof. Dr. Buradzhiev has been awarded with prestigious national and international prizes and awards.

 

Prof. Dr. Buradzhiev teaches "Conducting of folk orchestra" and "Conducting of folk choir" at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts - Plovdiv.

 

He has won national and international awards, the most prestigious of which are:

  • The title "World Champion" in the category "Folklore" from the Fifth World Choir Games in Graz, Austria, in 2008 .;
  • National Music Award "Crystal Lyre" of the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers, Ministry of Culture and Radio FM + , 2014;
  • Honorable Plaque and Honorable Diploma of the Ministry of  Culture for contribution to the development of Bulgarian culture, 2010;
  • Champion of the Grand Prix of Choral Music, Graz, Austria, 2011.

 

In 2005 Prof. Buradzhiev defended his thesis on "Performing techniques in playing the tambura (traditional bulgarian lute)" and received the scientific degree "Doctor".

 

He has issued various manuals for folk instruments, collections of songs for folk choir, pieces for folk orchestra and is also author of numerous publications on the problems of Bulgarian music folklore as well as  two monographs.
