Academic Choir "Angel Manolov" at the National Student House - Sofia was founded in 1933. by Maestro Angel Manolov. Since 1993, the choir has adopted the name of its founder, and from 1998 until today, its conductor is Maestro Darena Popova.

  The choir is a laureate and winner of numerous first prizes and gold medals from prestigious national and international choir competitions and festivals: Llangollen (Great Britain), Cantonigros, Torrevieja (Spain), Coimbra, Freamunde (Portugal), Aalborg (Denmark), Brook an der Moor , Vienna (Austria), Neuchatel, Montreux (Switzerland), Trnava (Slovakia), Helsingborg (Sweden), Gorizia, Arezzo, Rome (Italy), Veldhoven (Netherlands), Maasmechelen (Belgium), Provence, Paris, Nice, Lyon (France), Poznan, Wroclaw, Bialystok (Poland), Miltenberg, Berlin (Germany), Antalya, Istanbul (Turkey), Quito, Guayaquil (Ecuador), Durres, Tirana (Albania), Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos (Cyprus), Paralia , Athens, Thessaloniki (Greece), Iași, Bucharest (Romania), Negotin, Kragujevac, Belgrade (Serbia), Tbilisi (Georgia), Yerevan (Armenia), Castlebar (Ireland), Budapest (Hungary), Moscow (Russia), Bulgaria.

"Angel Manolov" Academic Choir is the winner of all high awards in the field of musical art: "Golden Lyra" from the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers; Plaque from the Ministry of Culture; Plaque from Bulgarian Choir Union; Plaque from the Union of Bulgarian Composers and  others.
