BEL CANTO Chamber music ensemble, Sofia, Bulgaria

BEL CANTO Chamber music ensemble. Created as an Academic chamber ensemble in 1992 BEL CANTO is composed mostly by students of the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" under the guidance of Vanilia Kisyova. The ensemble's repertoire comprises Renaissance, Classical and Romantic musical pieces as well as works by contemporary Bulgarian and foreign composers. This palette of choral compositions enables concert performances with a certain theme, partcipations in festivals, competitions and charity events.

 

 

 
 

As an academic formation, BEL CANTO performs joint concerts with the choir of the American University in Blagoevgrad and with the choir of the University of Copenhagen (Panum coret) presenting contemporary premiere choral works. In the period 2007-2016, the BEL CANTO ensemble attended the following festivals: "Sofia Music Weeks" and "New Bulgarian Music" in Sofia, "Feasts of Spiritual Music" in Gabrovo, "Meeting of the Student Choirs" in Blagoevgrad. The ensamble concertized by the invitation of the embassies of Sweden, Norway and Peru. In 2017 the vocal ensemble won the first prize at the International Choir Competition for Russian Spiritual Music in Sofia. The choir has recorded a CD, an has taken part in TV and radio shows.
